The only species of deer where both genders have antlers are the Caribou. They also have a coat that functions as lightweight wadding against the stark cold temperatures. These terrestrial animals are well-known to travel marvelous distances and are confident of attaining speeds of 80 kilometers per hour, making it sometimes a challenge for hunters to deliver the goods especially for archery caribou hunters.

Archery caribou hunting is a very difficult and exciting class of caribou hunt that can trial a skillful and adventurous bow-and-arrow hunter. It’s a perfect challenge for veteran archers who have found love in the game of caribou hunting. The right equipment, knowledge, and location still can lead to a productive archery caribou hunt. The nature of the caribou, being quick-moving animals with high traveling nature, is one of the biggest challenges in caribou hunting.

The hunting mode of the hunter should be one which is ready to proceed on with the herds, as caribou herds are invariably on the go. Caribou depart early in the day and usually starts trekking before daybreak and continue to travel until more or less sunset. Caribou hunters should setup in spaces that are renowned to be migratory paths. If you’re staying on in one of the numerous caribou hunting ranches or tours then they will be able to assist you in locating these routes.

Once a caribou hunter has been able to set themselves along one of these caribou migration trails, caribou hunters may have their choices on strategies to target the animal. One alternative is done with still-hunting, which calls for more accuracy with the bow & is often what expert archers prefer. Stalk-hunt is another alternative for archery caribou hunting which will require more energy but will offer the hunter more chances to go nearer to the heard. Aside from being quick, the caribou is also equipped with a remarkable sense of smell and incredible hearing range. The comfort zone for archery caribou hunting is about sixty yards, but often archery hunters would take a distance of more or less twenty yards for high accuracy. This is the reason that makes firearm hunting a little less exciting; they can shoot their prey from a much further distance.

The challenge that rests behind archery hunting doesn't include being in the proper location alone, but the proper equipment as well. Effectively killing a caribou requires a sixty to seventy pound draw weight bow and color fletched arrows. colour fletched arrows will help distinguish and repeat any successful hits. Either aluminum or carbon arrow tips will be required to increase impact. Since caribou are fast moving animals, the hunter should be equipped with lots of arrows to take multiple shots.

Archery caribou hunting calls for a lot of patience and planning, but this could be a phenomenal choice for skilled hunters who have given up to be challenged by conventional caribou hunting.
