As we head at full steam towards the summer months our thoughts are never far away from our impending summer holiday, the two weeks away from the reality and drudgery of our every day life to spend as much time as possible enjoying ourselves with our friends and families. With the way that the money markets and the credit crunch appears to be hitting us all we would be wise to enjoy our two weeks away as it looks like it is going to be a very tough year for everyone. But even the travel industry is feeling the pinch this year with families not having the money in their pocket to be able to afford their usual summer holiday, and with the rising price of fuel the prices of holidays are not as cheap as they used to be. So what can you do to ensure that you and your family can enjoy a nice relaxing summer holiday together and try to forget about the economic doom and gloom that appears to awaiting us just around the corner?
Many of us take the same type of holiday to similar locations year in and years out and because of this we get a little blinkered in what a summer holiday should entail. Just because we always stay in a hotel or apartment with a pool for two weeks every year that does not mean that is what we have to do, maybe now is the time to broaden your horizons and look for an alternative holiday.
As they say, a change is as good as a rest, and the ideal of a holiday is to have a rest and relax yourself before the winter months set in so what alternatives are there open to us? One option that is becoming more and more popular, especially with families that have children is camping, not the kind of camping that we may have experienced when we were children but camping of the modern day, with fantastic 8 berth tents with separate living and sleeping quarters and with a canopy that can keep you dry should it start to rain whilst you are outside cooking. These are static pitch tents that are put up and maintained by the campsite and are a million miles away from the two or three man tents that we used to have when we were younger, and for those of you that are of a more delicate nature the campsites even have superb shower and toilet facilities that are modern and clean and are as inviting to use as most hotel bathrooms. No need to trudge across an open muddy field to stand in a queue to use the shower and toilet. The facilities for the children on these complexes is fantastic, swimming pool, activity clubs and any number of sports facilities open around the clock to keep the children entertained.
It is no wonder that this type of camping is growing in popularity all over Europe but if you still do not fancy the idea of camping outside with nothing more than a high grade sheet of nylon polyester between you, the elements and the stars then maybe you should look further a field for your holiday destination. Many of the emerging European countries offer great value for money when it comes to a summer vacation, much cheaper than the usual destinations of Spain, France and Italy and because the tourist market is still a fledgling industry you will usually find that you will get a better level of service as well as better value for your money, not only within your accommodation but when eating out and shopping.
Countries such as Bulgaria have miles of unspoilt coastline that are relatively untouched by tourism and are just waiting to be discovered and explored. The Bulgarian seaside is on the Black Sea coast and the beaches are made up of beautifully clean white sand. The Bulgarian seaside also benefits from not being over run with cheap and tacky tourist shops which can tend to lower the tone of a resort. The Bulgarian seaside has a great all year round climate, with an average yearly temperature of over 14 degrees Celsius.
So there you have it, maybe it is not all doom and gloom when it comes to booking your holiday this year, by looking around at a few alternative ideas for your vacation or looking at a different destination you can easily find something a bit different the will fit your budget.
